Bose’s SoundLink Max is the company’s biggest and most capable portable Bluetooth speaker to date. It represents a shift from the smaller SoundLink Flex and Revolve models toward something larger and more powerful, aimed at listeners who want room-filling sound but still need portability.

Despite its size, it remains a carry-friendly device rather than a fixed home speaker.

Powering all of that is a battery rated for roughly 20 hours of playback on a full charge, depending on volume. It charges over USB-C and can even reverse-charge small devices in a pinch, which adds convenience for travel.

Charging times are reasonable given the size of the battery, and the speaker can play while charging.

For controls and connectivity, Bose sticks to a simple physical button layout on the top panel. Bluetooth pairing is straightforward, with multipoint support for two devices, and an AUX input gives you a wired option. The companion app lets you adjust EQ and manage connections but doesn’t require an account to use.
