Denver’s Discount Airline

Frontier Airlines is an American ultra-low-cost carrier headquartered in Denver, Colorado. Founded in 1994, the airline began operations with flights to four destinations in North Dakota and gradually established itself as a significant competitor in the domestic aviation market. Following its acquisition by Republic Airways in 2009 and subsequent sale to Indigo Partners in 2013, Frontier embraced an ultra-low-cost business model focused on affordable fares and optional services.

The airline is also recognized for the wildlife illustrations decorating its aircraft tails, featuring animals such as bears, wolves, and eagles. Its environmental branding reflects an emphasis on fuel efficiency and responsible aviation practices.

Connecting America on a Budget

Frontier Airlines operates an extensive network of domestic flights connecting major American cities, regional markets, and popular vacation destinations. Denver International Airport remains its largest operating base, with Atlanta, Orlando, Las Vegas, and Dallas/Fort Worth also playing important roles in its network. International service extends to destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America.

The airline regularly adjusts its schedule to reflect seasonal travel demand, introducing new routes and modifying existing services. Popular leisure markets, including Florida, Nevada, and coastal vacation destinations, feature prominently in Frontier’s operations. Its point-to-point network allows travelers to access numerous nonstop routes without connecting through traditional airline hubs.

Basic Fares, Bundles, and Membership Deals

Frontier Airlines follows an ultra-low-cost pricing model, offering inexpensive base fares with additional charges for services such as carry-on luggage, checked baggage, and advance seat selection. Passengers can purchase Economy, Premium, and Business bundles that combine various amenities, including extra legroom, priority boarding, and greater baggage allowances.

The airline also offers Discount Den, a paid membership providing access to exclusive fares and family travel benefits. Its GoWild! All-You-Can-Fly Pass allows subscribers to book eligible flights for minimal additional airfare, although availability restrictions, blackout dates, and applicable taxes and fees make careful planning essential.

What to Expect on Board Frontier

Frontier operates an all-Airbus fleet consisting of A320 and A321 family aircraft, including newer, fuel-efficient neo models. Cabins feature lightweight seating and a relatively dense layout designed to accommodate more passengers. Travelers can choose standard seats, extra-legroom Premium seats, and upgraded seating toward the front of the aircraft, with more spacious First Class seating being introduced during 2026.

The onboard experience is straightforward, with snacks, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Frontier currently offers no seatback entertainment, onboard Wi-Fi, or passenger power outlets, although Starlink internet service is planned to begin rolling out in early 2027.
