NCL’s Private Island Escape in the Bahamas

Great Stirrup Cay is Norwegian Cruise Line’s 270-acre private island in the Bahamas, reserved for guests sailing with NCL. The destination combines white-sand beaches with resort-style amenities, including the heated Great Life Lagoon pool, complimentary dining, bars, cabanas, snorkeling, ziplining, and premium areas such as Silver Cove and the adults-only Vibe Shore Club.

A major redevelopment has expanded the island significantly, adding a new pier for direct ship access, upgraded family facilities, and new attractions. Guests can spend the day at the beach, relax beside the pool, book excursions, or choose from several paid premium experiences across the island.

New in 2026: Great Tides Waterpark

Great Tides Waterpark is the newest major addition to Great Stirrup Cay, opening in September 2026 as a 5.6-acre attraction with 19 waterslides spread across four themed areas. Tidal Tower anchors the park with eight slides, while Cliffside Cove adds 10- and 15-foot cliff jumps and a four-person family slide.

The Wandering River extends more than 800 feet and includes an immersive tunnel, connected pool, and swim-up bar. Splash Cay gives younger guests a dedicated 9,000-square-foot play area with eight smaller slides and interactive water features. Private cabanas, food venues, bars, lockers, and lounge areas round out the experience, with admission sold separately from regular island access.
