The Second Album From a Rising British Star

Rachel Chinouriri released her second studio album, I Think I Spoke Too Soon, on October 16, 2026, through Parlophone Records and Atlas Artists. The 12-track record follows her acclaimed 2024 debut, What a Devastating Turn of Events, and marks another stage in the British singer-songwriter’s rapidly developing career. Following two BRIT Award nominations and growing international recognition, Chinouriri approaches her second album with a greater interest in pop music and the complexities of her mid-twenties.

The album reflects a period of personal change, drawing on Chinouriri’s experiences with relationships, sobriety, and the expectations she once held about adulthood. Its title acknowledges how quickly convictions can change with experience, a recurring idea throughout a record that finds her reassessing the person she thought she would become.

Chinouriri Embraces the Dancefloor

I Think I Spoke Too Soon introduces a more electronic sound, incorporating synth-pop, disco, and dance music into Chinouriri’s established indie-pop style. Inspired by artists including Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Donna Summer, and Prince, the album embraces shimmering synthesizers, prominent basslines, and rhythmic production. The change is particularly noticeable on songs such as One Song Away from Crying and Broken Chair, where upbeat arrangements carry emotionally complicated lyrics.

Chinouriri’s expressive vocals remain central to the music, moving between delicate melodies, conversational phrasing, and energetic pop hooks. Tracks such as Favourite Desperation and I’m a Star retain some of the guitar-driven character of her earlier work, while the album’s closing songs explore heavier rock textures.
