When Everyone Is Watching

Hollywood, Ending follows rising actors Kai Laramie and Juniper Castillo as a high-profile Andy Warhol biopic pushes them toward sudden fame and an increasingly complicated relationship.

Told through both characters’ perspectives, John Green explores attraction, trust, ambition, and the emotional consequences of becoming public property. The Hollywood setting gives the novel plenty of glamour and industry detail, while its strongest moments focus on the private lives developing underneath the attention, expectations, and constant scrutiny surrounding its young stars.

John Green Returns to Fiction

Hollywood, Ending marks John Green’s first novel in nine years and his debut in adult fiction. Green spent roughly eight years developing the story, using celebrity culture and the modern attention economy to examine concerns that extend well beyond movie stars, including social media, visibility, and the ways personal experiences become public content.

The return has generated significant interest. The first 85,000 U.S. and Canadian copies were signed, and the novel launched as a major bestseller, including a No. 1 debut on Publishers Weekly’s hardcover fiction chart for its signed edition. It also extends a career that has already placed more than 60 million Green books in print worldwide.
