Seven Minutes of Creative Chaos

Storm is a cinematic music video from French creative project GENER8ION, starring Swedish rapper Yung Lean. Directed by Romain Gavras, the seven-minute production combines experimental electronic music and contemporary dance in a provocative exploration of youth, power, and masculinity.

The video quickly became a viral sensation, accumulating more than 34 million YouTube views and inspiring countless recreations of its choreography on TikTok and Instagram. Its cultural reach expanded through celebrity endorsements, international media coverage, and a live performance at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards.

Meet the Class of 2034

Set in 2034 at an all-boys boarding school in Leeds, England, Storm presents a dystopian environment where adult authority is noticeably absent. Yung Lean portrays an intimidating student whose influence dominates the institution, drawing his classmates into an escalating series of reckless behavior and acts of rebellion.

The story unfolds through two connected musical compositions, Storm I and Storm II, with the soundtrack shifting from aggressive electronic rhythms to a more melodic arrangement featuring piano and strings.

The production was filmed at Collège Cardinal Mercier in Belgium, transforming a real educational institution into an unsettling fictional world.

Damien Jalet’s Masterpiece of Movement

One of Storm’s defining achievements is its extraordinary synchronized dance sequence, choreographed by acclaimed French-Belgian artist Damien Jalet. During a gathering on the school’s steps, dozens of young performers erupt into an intensely physical routine,.

The Creative Power of GENER8ION and Yung Lean

GENER8ION brings together the talents of French electronic music producer Surkin, whose real name is Benoît Heitz, and filmmaker Romain Gavras. Their multidisciplinary collaboration combines music production, cinematic direction, and visual experimentation, building on previous creative projects involving artists such as M.I.A.

Yung Lean, born Jonatan Leandoer Håstad in Sweden, emerged during the early 2010s as an influential figure in cloud rap and internet-driven music culture. His experimental musical identity and unconventional public persona make him a compelling presence in Storm, where his commanding performance anchors the film’s increasingly intense narrative.
