The Sound of Day and Night

Day and Night: Carly Rae Jepsen expands her pop world across a 24-track double album written for two distinct moods. The Day half draws from folk, psychedelic pop, disco, and live instrumentation, giving the record a warm, loose atmosphere. Night moves into synth-pop, house, and dance music with brighter rhythms and a more nocturnal energy.

Love remains at the center of Jepsen’s songwriting, now shaped by commitment, marriage, family, and the emotional shifts that come with a new stage of adulthood. The larger format gives her room to explore different production styles while maintaining the melodic instincts and emotional directness that have defined her work.

Two Sides of Carly Rae Jepsen

Day and Night received broadly positive reviews, with critics frequently praising its ambition, melodic consistency, and willingness to stretch Jepsen’s established pop sound. Its 24-song length drew some criticism, with several reviews noting that the scale occasionally makes the album feel unwieldy.

The release also arrives during a significant period in Jepsen’s career. Day and Night debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard 200 and will support a 2027 North American tour that includes her first headlining show at Madison Square Garden. The album reinforces the dedicated audience she has built since E•MO•TION .
